Gulf Coast Pain Management
Pain and Procedure Info

INTERCOSTAL NERVE BLOCK

You have just received an intercostal nerve block. This means that the physician has injected medication into the painful tissue area between the ribs.

Initially, your pain may be increased until the medication has become fully effective. This may take up to one week. To help minimize your discomfort, please use your pain medications as prescribed.

Since there is a risk of puncturing the lung during the procedure, go to emergency room right away if difficulty breathing or shortness of breath occurs.
